Direct rural route to Nempnett Thrubwell. Uses the Portway which is flat, but the shared cycle path can be unpleasant with oncoming riders, and generally smelly. After that up Blackmoor Lane, along the shared pavement and pick up NCN 33 through the bottom of Ashton Court Park, then through Long Ashton, Wild Country Lane and Hobbs Lane. Short walk up the A38 pavement to the second large modern island, which has reasonable sight lines and cross over to reach Dial Lane, Felton. Thence properly rural.
Circular route down the Gordano Valley, out onto the North Somerset levels and back through rhine-crossed moorland, up past Backwell Church, then through Long Ashton to Ashton Court park and over the suspension bridge to cross the Downs.
Pleasant circular morning route up to the Failand Heights, passing St George's Flower Bank, Lower Failand and Failand, descending Beaumont Hill to return through Long Ashton and the Ashton Court Estate.
Short but generally quiet route back to Stoke Bishop. Goes along the promenade giving estuary views, then through the broad shared pavements of the industrial estate, and along Farm Lane.
