This region is a gold mine for great super-high unpaved cycling climbs (Colle dell’Assietta is just above where I started). Today’s ride is by no means the toughest or the best of this high altitude Mecca, but I had a blast checking off high cols, and visiting little lakes on super quiet roads.

A paved road to the end of the world. A truly great climb.
This is as good a high Alps gravel road route as I know. Spectacular. But warning, this is challenging. Starting at 500 metres altitude, the route goes to almost 2800 metres with a descent in the middle. And much of this is on slippery, poor quality, gravel roads. Hard work. But rewarding.
